Smithy
Welcome to my shop.
Here, among tools, sketch board and life scale drawings, is the space where we will work on your ideas and wishes. We’ll get to know each other by discussing, sharing pictures, and drawings and eventually we’ll bring to life the piece you were dreaming of. You may even bring a part of yourself into it…
Blacksmithing and forging are metal-shaping techniques wich use heat. I use wrought-iron as a way of embellishing my work. As thin and thick lines in a sketch, modeling iron bars allows for lively piece of work. Hammering and tools mark the surface, so that it will look more like stone, wood or leather than industrial iron bars. With this technique I manage to literally warm up a material wich is widely believed to be cold and rigid. I pay special attention to creating fine and harmonious shapes. Thus I’m able to create a wide range of objects such as ironwork for building (gates, stairs, railings, canopies, awnings and perolas, …), furniture (table, shelves, console table, lampe posts, candelabras, …), as well as smaller objects (door handles, hinges, coat hangers, nails …).
